Essential Job Functions


Business Office Functions

  • Oversee revenue cycle for all payers, including Private Pay, Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care. Ensure all information is accurate and correct in order to submit clean claims for timely payment.
  • Responsible for collection of all Accounts Receivable and adherence to company collection policies and procedures. Maintain daily census, reconciling discrepancies with other departments.
  • Verify Medicare/Medicaid/Insurance eligibility and benefits. Obtain or verify prior authorizations.
  • Responsible for cash management, including scanning deposits and positing payments in billing system, monitor petty cash funds (if applicable), oversee resident trust account, and bank reconciliations.
  • Respond to questions related to billing from residents and/or responsible parties and work to resolve issues and/or concerns with other Team Members, as needed.
  • Work with residents, families, and government agencies on Medicaid applications.
  • Remain up to date with Company, Federal and State billing guidelines.
  • Perform other financial related duties as assigned.

  • Communicate effectively in a manner that is sufficient for supervisors, team members, prospects, residents, and families.
  • Must be able to speak, write and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, team members, residents, and families.
  • Knowledge/proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite, electronic health record (EHR) billing systems, UB claim form, insurance portals, and clearinghouses.

Education and Experience

  • Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for this position.
  • 2+ years of Skilled Nursing billing and collections required.
  • Minimum two-year accounting degree or general equivalency is required.
  • Knowledge of basic generally accepted accounting principles.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position may have direct reports or supervisory requirements. 

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Tasks assigned to this position may involve potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.

Physical Requirements -  The Physical activities of this position involve:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer & telephone
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Alternating between standing and sitting

Cognitive Requirements - The Cognitive activities with or without prosthetics of this position are:

  • Executes tasks independently
  • Ability to express yourself clearly and effectively
  • General computer literacy

Environmental Requirements - An individual in this position may be exposed to:

  • Ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment
