Under direct supervision, maintains an assigned area of the hospital in a sanitary and orderly condition in accordance with departmental and regulatory agency policies, procedures and standards. Skills include ability to work well under time constraints and to work effectively as a team member, ability to courteously greet and exchange information with patients, visitors and staff while performing housekeeping tasks. Employee has knowledge and understanding of patient and workforce safety as it relates to job duties. Demonstrates competency in the delivery of care and applies the knowledge to meet age-specific needs if applicable. Principal duties and responsibilities include assembling necessary cleaning supplies and equipment; loading utility cart and transporting to work areas after receiving instructions; cleaning assigned areas by performing a variety of housekeeping duties such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing, polishing; inspecting area upon completion to ensure cleanliness; preparing cleaning solutions according to instructions; performing routine discharge room cleaning including removing soiled linen and remaking beds; notifying team leader of needed maintenance repairs; cleaning and storing equipment regularly; logging tasks on Interserv per policy.
