Pride Health is hiring a Patient Transporter to support our client’s medical facility based in Manhattan, NY, 10003 . This is a 3-month assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Job Title: Patient Transporter 

Location: Manhattan, NY 10003

Pay Range: $17/hr to $20.00/hr

Shift: Days, Monday-Friday(07:00 AM to 5:00 PM) .

Duration: 03 Months (Contract) with possible extension .

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs a variety of clinical, technical, service, and administrative support tasks.
• Transports patients, supplies, equipment, medications, medical charts, specimens, nameplates, and documentation (e.g., OR schedules, requisitions).
• Selects appropriate mode of transportation for patients, including provision of oxygen when necessary.
• Introduces self and destination to the patient and confirms patient identity using ID band.
• Assists caregivers in safely moving patients on and off transportation equipment.
• Ensures that the patient's chart and necessary documentation accompany them to the designated area.
• Verifies patients are properly dressed and covered during transport to maintain dignity and safety.
• Utilizes designated elevators to ensure timely and appropriate patient transport.
• Redistributes rolling stock such as wheelchairs and stretchers throughout the facility.
• Ensures all transport equipment is clean, safe, functional, and accessible.
• Secures transportation equipment in a locked and stationary position when not in motion.
• Keeps side rails raised when necessary to ensure patient safety.
• Places essential bedside items within patient reach after transport.
• Maintains current and accurate Transport Sheets.
• Communicates patient status updates to appropriate staff (e.g., return to unit, pick-up required, assistance needed).
• Practices respectful, effective communication and collaboration with all healthcare team members.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate care knowledge and skills relevant to the assigned patient population.
• Participates in department performance improvement initiatives and quality improvement activities.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient and employee information at all times.
• Engages in staff meetings, manager evaluations, and peer performance reviews.
• Complies with and demonstrates competence in BIHCS departmental policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• HEART SAVER BLS
